Tangible daydreams

When an idea takes hold, I feel compelled to bring it to life, regardless of complexity or time. I carefully shape each work through observation, composition, and refinement until everything feels in balance.

For me, the process is as meaningful as the result. An image develops step by step, where each decision builds toward a clear and intentional outcome.

Step into my world

Creating has always been a core part of who I am. I'm grateful that my work resonates with people around the world, often encouraging them to see hidden forms and animals in unexpected places.

My work has been featured in an Adobe Photoshop campaign, including an Instagram takeover where I shared my creative process and approach to digital image making. Several works have also been included in UNESCO exhibitions focused on nature and environmental awareness.

Background

Born in 1979 in Winterswijk, the Netherlands, and raised in Aalten, I've always been driven to express imagination through drawing, building and visual storytelling.

Over time, this evolved into digital art and design. Travel has been an important influence, especially the structures, patterns and rhythms found in nature, architecture and visual culture.

After studying graphic design, I worked in the design industry and have been freelancing under the name Tref since 2010. I also independently published an art book and a children’s book.
