Animals in Landscapes: A Surreal Art Book by Martijn Schrijver
After years of creating surreal digital artwork, I wanted to bring a selection of the work together in print.
The result is an artbook featuring surreal compositions built around nature, animals and visual associations.
The book follows the same approach as my digital work: photographic elements are combined and edited by hand in Adobe Photoshop to create scenes that feel both familiar and impossible.
Alongside the finished images, the book shows selected stages of the creative process. Before-and-after images reveal how an initial photograph or idea can develop into a finished composition.
At its heart, it’s a visual collection of the work, ideas and experiments that have shaped my practice as a digital artist.
